The CR Songwriter Series aims to connect songwriters and their songs with audiences in intimate settings.

Although songs are at the heart of every musical performance, it is often the songs that get lost in the hustle and bustle of clubs and bars. We hope to create a space where songs and the stories they tell are front and center, creating a connection between the songwriter and the audience that often gets missed in louder places.

Abbie Sawyer

Abbie Sawyer is a Midwest singer-songwriter who captivates live audiences with her stirring lyrics and soulful voice. Her 2025 LP, Persimmon—called “a tall glass of hope” by dsm Magazine—explores the interlocking of grief and joy, the creative process and blind faith.

Abbie has played stages ranging from Des Moines Art Festival Main Stage, Iowa Songwriters Festival, The Goldfinch Room Series, Alternating Currents, 80/35, Beaverdale Bluegrass Festival, The Englert, Prompt for the Planet, Hoyt Sherman, and various regional festivals, venues and private events.

She has shared billings with The Righteous Babes, Rufus Wainwright, Deb Talan, Leyla McCalla, Lake Street Dive, Davina and the Vagabonds, and Fitz & the Tantrums.
